Ancient Stone (Limited Edition)

from $90.00

Elephant Rocks State Park in Missouri is home to a curious geologic formation that is sculpted out of 1.5 billion year old pink granite. Giant boulders of this ancient granite form a landform called a “tor”, which is an exposed rock mass of joined and broken blocks. As the mass weathered, horizontal and vertical cracks developed and fractured into large angular blocks. Further erosion has rounded the blocks into more spheroidal shapes, each one being unique. In this image, a selection of these giant boulders are pictured against beautiful Missouri fall colors.

This image is part of a Limited Edition series of 50 prints + 5 artist proofs, across all mediums and sizes.
